Doctor Who: “Scotland really showed us the way … 85% of the people voted.”

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting Paul McGann, the 8th Doctor Who, at a local comic expo.

As we were chatting, my friend Rick asked him about the Scottish independence vote. The 8th Doctor mentioned two things that really stuck with me.

First, the issue was so divisive that it even split many families. I guess this shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did.

And second, that 85% of the people in Scotland went to the polls. He remarked that regardless of the outcome: “Scotland really showed us the way.”

I thought I’d share this stunning figure since I had not heard it in the news. A fantastic message from across the pond: Imagine … Democracy!
