Isn’t it odd that Bush is going to get credit for sending over more troops, achieving nothing, then bringing them home as if he were withdrawing troops?
Yet the strategy is somehow working and once again Democrats are on the run, about to propose a compromise that will allow Bush to withdraw troops whenever he feels like it.
Somebody needs to take a negotiation refresher course. I’m with Chris Weigant who says that the Democrats should have taken some credit for Republicans actually withdrawing the troops as originally suggested by who? The Democrats of course.
His suggestion to announce that President Bush has finally come around to the Democratic way of thinking might be one of the few ways Democrats can escape from the corner General Petraeus and Republicans have painted them in.
