Donald Trump is the establishment

September 20, 2016 at 10:42 pm

This may be the weirdest election year ever. People are not happy about what’s happening in their lives and a supposedly “anti-establishment” candidate has risen by playing off these fears and scapegoating all of the usual suspects.

Time and again, in talking to people I know they’ve told me that they like Trump because they see him as an “outsider.”

“How,” I ask, since this type of scapegoating and raging against “big government” has been going on for over 30 years, “is Trump any different?”

To me, this looks like Lucy laying down the football once again for Charlie Brown. “This time it will be different, Charlie Brown,” she says. And we all know what happens. The candidate was just playing us.

Don’t buy it. It’s the same establishment, tea party trick of pretending to run as an outsider that we’ve seen for years. Donald Trump is the establishment.

1. When you can tell people how corrupt you are without any consequences, you are the establishment.

I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And yunno what, when I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them, they are there for me.

CNN mistakes dildo flag at London pride parade for flag of ISIS

June 28, 2015 at 6:05 pm

In breaking news, CNN crack national security analysts took snapshots of this terrorist flag at the London pride parade today.

Lucy Pawle, CNN London correspondent, had this to say:

This man dressed in black and white was waving what appears to be a very bad mimicry but a clear attempt to mimic the ISIS flag, the black and white flag with the distinctive lettering. If you look at the flag closely, it’s clearly not Arabic, in fact it looks like it could be gobbledygook.

Pawle goes on to say: “I seem to be the only person who has spotted this.”

Don’t forget to win the moral high ground and kill this lie that ‘Democrats won’t negotiate’

October 17, 2013 at 9:11 pm

In the aftermath of the shutdown publicity stunt, I’d like to take a moment for a friendly public service announcement.

This morning, I’ve seen several examples online where we’re inadvertently reinforcing the conservative idea that Democrats “won’t negotiate”.

Two of the most prominent are a) The New York Times “The Republican Surrender”, and b) the Rachel Maddow chart shown.

I’m posting this PSA because I want to win people over, not “beat” them or force them to surrender. This feeds right in to the idiocy about Democrats not being willing to negotiate.

Remember, the negotiation is still going to happen. Just like it was in April.

If you want to perform a public service and help get rid of this lie, it’s easy.

How to edit an article to ‘back page’ the science: a case study from today’s Cincinnati Enquirer

August 25, 2012 at 3:30 pm

If you read the top quote from an article in today’s Enquirer (picture above), what would your first thought be about what the article is about?

I think the Enquirer does a great job of presenting what would appear to be an unbiased article to a close reader, yet at the same time never really undermining the conservative claim in the title quote, “‘Legitimate rape’ rarely causes pregnancy” to the casual reader.

If you’re interested, here’s how to edit an article to achieve this effect.

The Argument Against Voter ID That You Won’t See in the Media

December 12, 2011 at 10:54 pm

When it comes to voter ID programs, what’s the typical mainstream media article look like? One side says that the programs prevent voter fraud, the other says that they are “designed to stifle turnout among students, poor people and minorities, who are more likely to vote for Democrats.” The media […]

Cincinnati Enquirer Bias Favors Jean Schmidt

August 13, 2009 at 10:45 pm

I know the Cincinnati Enquirer supports Jean Schmidt, but usually they can at least mask it better. Today, the Enquirer finally posted some coverage on the Jean Schmidt/David Krikorian hearings before the Ohio Elections Commission. As I was scrolling through the coverage, I discovered that the Enquirer left an older […]

CPAC and Idiocracy

March 1, 2009 at 10:40 pm

CPAC (the Conservative Political Action Conference) has been going on this week and interestingly enough, I happened to rent the movie Idiocracy on Friday. The narrator has one of my favorite quotes as Joe, the hero of the movie, explores 500 years into the future for the first time: Unaware […]

I received this alarmist e-mail from NewsMax today: Radio Insiders, Congressmen Aim to Stop Fairness Doctrine Moves are afoot to head off any Democratic efforts to reinstate the so-called Fairness Doctrine and stifle conservative talk radio. Sure Signs Your AM Radio Talk Show Host is About to Explode

January 26, 2009 at 10:36 pm

I think El Rushbo is about to explode. His rants are getting angrier and angrier and I think he’s starting to foam at the mouth. His latest claim goes something like this: The Democratic plan has a very real chance of helping to stimulate the economy and create jobs and […]
